Just got back from the church women's camp..what an event! The trip went very well and the Holy Spirit moved mightily among the women and the girls who went. Of course, there were a couple of setbacks but overall it was an awesome event. Oooh the food!!!..lemme tell you about the food; it was sooooo gooood. It was a blessing for me to be able to go and photograph and capture what God is doing with the women of our church. I also took the opportunity to capture some other good shots while there..check 'em out below:

Posting & Camp

My apologies for not posting lately. I usually post while at work but because internet access rules have changed I have not been able to post as much. I will try to post when I am home.

As you know I will be going to the church women's camp this weekend to cover it for the church website. I am very excited to go and see what God will do. They have record attendance this year so this event will be a big blessing! See y'all later...

We Need God In America!!!

With all these recent news about gay marriage, I've been thinking that we the church need to do something. It had gotten to the point that anything the Bible condemns is now the norm...and if that wasn't bad enought there are churches out there going along with it out of fear and intimidation. I love the song in the following video; it is a powerful statement of what we the church need to do to stop the current path this country is taking. I posted the lyrics below it so you can follow along.

George Washington, Thomas Jefferson
Samuel Adams, First Chief Justice John Jay
Names synonymous with the spirit of our country
Founding fathers of the U.S.A.

Over 200 years ago they shook off the chains of tyranny from Great Britain
By divine call
Citing 27 biblical violations they wrote the Declaration of Independence
With liberty and justice for all

But something happened since Jefferson called the Bible the cornerstone
For American liberty then put it in our schools as a light
Or since "Give me liberty, or give me death," Patrick Henry said
Our country was founded on the Gospel of Jesus Christ

We eliminated God from the equation of American life
Thus eliminating the reason this nation first began
From beyond the grave I hear the voices of our founding fathers plead
You need God in America again

Of the 55 men who formed the Constitution
Fifty-two were active members of their church
Founding fathers like Noah Webster who wrote the first dictionary
Could literally quote the Bible chapter and verse

James Madison said, "We've staked our future on our ability to follow
The Ten Commandments with all our heart"
These men believed you couldn't even call yourself an American
If you subvert the Word of God

In his farewell address, Washington said, "You can't have national morality apart from religious principle," and it's true
'Cause right now we have nearly 150,000 kids carrying guns
To these war zones we call public schools

In the '40's and '50's student problems were chewing gum and talking
In the '90's, rape and murder are the trend
The only way this nation can even hope to last this decade
Is put God in America again

The only hope for America is Jesus
The only hope for our country is Him
If we repent of our ways stand firm and say
We need God in America again

Abe Lincoln said, "The philosophy of the classroom in one generation
Will be the philosophy of government of the next"
So when you eliminate the Word of God from the classroom and politics
You eliminate the nation that Word protects

America is now number one in teen pregnancy and violent crime
Number one in illiteracy, drug use, and divorce
Everyday a new holocaust of 5,000 unborn die
While pornography floods our streets like open sewers

America's dead and dying hand is on the threshold of the Church
While the spirit of Sodom and Gomorrah vex us all
When it gets to the point where people would rather
Come out of the closet than clean it
It's a sign that the judgment of God is gonna fall

If there's ever been a time to rise up Church, it's now
And as the blood bought saints of the living God proclaim
That it's time to sound the alarm from the Church house to the White House
And say, "We want God in America again"

I believe it's time for America to stand up and proclaim
That one nation under God is our demand
And send this evil lifestyle back to Satan where it came from
And let the Word of God revive our dying land

For Jesus Christ is coming back again in all His glory
And every eye shall see Him on that day
That's why a new anointing of God's power's coming on us
To boldly tell the world you must be saved

Because astrology won't save you, your horoscope won't save you
The Bible says these things are all a farce
If you're born again, you don't need to look to the stars for your answers
'Cause you can look to the very One who made those stars

History tells us time and time again
To live like there's no God makes you a fool
If you want to see kids live right
Stop handing out condoms and start handing out the Word of God in schools

Wayy back in 2003 a little known director wanted to try and get himself noticed in Hollywood and perhaps get more jobs. So, he got some actors together and shot the video below for 30,000 bucks. Well, he did get noticed and the video he made attained a huge following. Here, in all its 8 minute glory is the video titled...Batman: Dead End. Enjoy.

What Are YOU Doing?

There seems to always be a group in church whose job is to criticize and joke about others who are active in the ministry...have you noticed that? They make fun of the guy who does the dramas, or the guy who sings, or the girl who's involved in dance, etc. They sit in church and talk all thru the service but if there's an activity that involves food or sports they show up. That's curious to me because it seems these people themselves are not really contributing anything...they're just bodies filling seats.

Sure, they USED to be active in the church; in camps, youth events, etc. But now, it seems they have grown and are too good to do anything anymore...even too good to listen to the Word and let God into their lives. Oh, they do think that by coming to church God is in their lives, but they're deceived. One has to just look at their atittudes to see that there's nothing of God there.

They act like they're smart but if you ask them for any ideas for an activity they have nothing. Some of them want to be leaders without paying the price and doing what they know they have to do to be leaders...sheesh! It's so easy to stand on the sidelines criticize and joke about those who are making a BIG difference in church.

The church is moving on and these guys are staying behind...sad but true. So, my question to them is what are YOU doing to further the ministry? Heck, what are YOU doing to make sure God is active in your life??? You sit there and laugh and joke about others who are contributing as if participating is the wrong thing to do when you know NOT participating is what's wrong (see how people nowadays think doing the wrong thing is the normal thing to do?).

What happened to the Spirit-filled person you were? Where are those guys who had a fire and passion for God and were willing to go all out? Where are the those warriors from years gone by? Have you let the enemy come and harden you to the point that you are now essentially making fun of what you yourself were? Maybe you had to be disciplined and instead of using that to improve yourself you fell into a spirit of rebellion...that's too bad...we really could use you.

More Marvel Rumours...

I loooove superhero movies...but these rumors have me worried! Word from Marvel is that they are now starting to toss names for the role of Steve Rogers.

The name at the top of the list? Leonardo DiCaprio.....NOOOooooooooooooooooooo!!

You know else is also on the list in case they don’t get DiCaprio? Brad Pitt.

Marvel wants to be in the Brad Pitt business. They are willing to cast him either as THOR or CAPTAIN AMERICA. Now Brad Pitt as Captain America would be passable but as it stands right now…

…Marvel wants Leonardo DiCaprio as Captain America!

These are just rumors coming from Marvel staff...no offer has been made to either star named above. Nor will there be, until scripts are nailed down (the Thor script is nearing completion, probably within the month).

Introducing...Tenth Avenue North

This is one of those rock albums that are so awesome!! Newcomers to the christian music scene, this band offers great lyrics and awesome musicianship. This band is the next big thing. If you're a fan of Mercyme, Third Day, and Toby Mac you will love this album. Check them out below!

It's confirmed...Captain America was in the Hulk movie!

I loooove superhero movies.

Today I have a very interesting tidbit and a spoiler from the Hulk movie (opening on the 13th). Apparently Captain America was supposed to make an appearance according to the producers. Here's a description of the scene:

“There’s a point when Bruce Banner gives up on his quest for the cure and decide to kill himself. So he travels far North and reaches the Arctic Circle. You might have seen bits of it in some of the promos. The result was a very dark and strong scene, which Marvel, me and everyone else’s considered to be too hard to young audiences to take, so we’ve cut it. Having that said, when Bruce arrives at his destination he meets up with Captain America!”

How awesome would that have been????? Lucky for us they are going to...get this...release that clip on the internet this week!!!! The DVD will also have the clip included. Now, check out the spoiler below...if you dont want to know anything about the Hulk movie before it comes out then do not scroll down...stop right here!

Still here?...ok. In the new Hulk movie there is a secret scene where Robert Downey Jr. portraying Tony Stark calls General Ross (the army guy chasing the Hulk)and tells him "we're forming a team..." Basically he's saying they are forming The Avengers. I am soo excited about this and I hope the upcoming Thor and Captain America movies also have secret scenes leading up to it. Knowing Marvel, this will probably be the case.

3 Myths That Hold You Back

I wanted to share with you something cool that was shared with me yesterday. These are the 3 myths that hold you back from focusing on the strenghts that make you a better person. Ready?...here we go...

Myth 1: As you grow, you change
We all have heard the common phrase that talks about leaving childish things behind as we grow up...but this doesn't apply to everything. There are things we carry over from childhood to adult hood. For example...some kids love to be organized...when they grow to adulthood you will often see this carry over and they are very organized as adults in many areas of their lives. Some kids hate to lose to the point that if they see their favorite sports team losing on TV they will run out of the room or cover theyr face to avoid seeng it. These are the people you see who don't like to lose at anything as adults. because of this trait they often aim high. Usually you can see this in reverse also...many of the organized, disciplined adults you see today began this behavior as children

Myth 2: You Should Develop Your Weaknesses
If you spend time focusing on developing your weaknesses, then when are you going to be able to use your strengths?? The Chicago Bulls won many championships, not because they practiced to build up their weaknesses, but because they banded together and every member used their individual strength to build the team overall. They determined what they can do best in the game and did it. This doesn't mean your weaknesses don't deserve attention; they do, but not all your attention. Your strengths are what make you awesome...why not spend more time displaying and using them? By doing so you can work around your weaknesses.

Myth 3: Put Aside Your Strenghts For The Good Of The Team
Again, read myth 2 above. If you work in a team environment and each person puts aside their strenghs...this is a weak team: nobody is using their strenghts to make the team stand out and then nothing really gets done. You don't have to sacrifice for the good of the team...remember there is no I in team.

So, there you have it. I think these concepts are so awesome, and I hope they can affect your views on how to work as a team as they have done for me.

Are Photographers Really A Threat???

What is it with photographers these days? Are they really all terrorists, or does everyone just think they are?

Since 9/11, there has been an increasing war on photography. Photographers have been harrassed, questioned, detained, arrested or worse, and declared to be unwelcome. We've been repeatedly told to watch out for photographers, especially suspicious ones. Clearly any terrorist is going to first photograph his target, so vigilance is required.

Except that it's nonsense. The 9/11 terrorists didn't photograph anything. Nor did the London transport bombers, the Madrid subway bombers, or the liquid bombers arrested in 2006. Timothy McVeigh didn't photograph the Oklahoma City Federal Building. The Unabomber didn't photograph anything; neither did shoe-bomber Richard Reid. Photographs aren't being found amongst the papers of Palestinian suicide bombers. The IRA wasn't known for its photography. Even those manufactured terrorist plots that the US government likes to talk about -- the Ft. Dix terrorists, the JFK airport bombers, the Miami 7, the Lackawanna 6 -- no photography.

Given that real terrorists, and even wannabe terrorists, don't seem to photograph anything, why is it such pervasive conventional wisdom that terrorists photograph their targets? Why are our fears so great that we have no choice but to be suspicious of any photographer?

Because it's a movie-plot threat.

Terrorists taking pictures is a quintessential detail in any good movie. Of course it makes sense that terrorists will take pictures of their targets. They have to do reconnaissance, don't they? We need 45 minutes of television action before the actual terrorist attack -- 90 minutes if it's a movie -- and a photography scene is just perfect. It's our movie-plot terrorists that are photographers, even if the real-world ones are not.

The problem with movie-plot security is it only works if we guess the plot correctly. If we spend a zillion dollars defending Wimbledon and terrorists blow up a different sporting event, that's money wasted. If we post guards all over the Underground and terrorists bomb a crowded shopping area, that's also a waste. If we teach everyone to be alert for photographers, and terrorists don't take photographs, we've wasted money and effort, and taught people to fear something they shouldn't.

And even if terrorists did photograph their targets, the math doesn't make sense. Billions of photographs are taken by honest people every year, 50 billion by amateurs alone in the US And the national monuments you imagine terrorists taking photographs of are the same ones tourists like to take pictures of. If you see someone taking one of those photographs, the odds are infinitesimal that he's a terrorist.

Of course, it's far easier to explain the problem than it is to fix it. Because we're a species of storytellers, we find movie-plot threats uniquely compelling. A single vivid scenario will do more to convince people that photographers might be terrorists than all the data I can come up with to demonstrate that they're not.

Fear aside, there aren't many legal restrictions on what you can photograph from a public place that's already in public view. If you're harassed, it's almost certainly a law enforcement official, public or private, acting way beyond his authority. There's nothing in any post-9/11 law that restricts your right to photograph.

What the...?!?

Passing notes in study hall or getting your best friend to ask a boy if he likes you or, you know, LIKES you, is so last century. Nowadays, teenagers are snapping naked pictures of themselves on their cell phones and sending them to their boyfriends, girlfriends and friends. Many of these pictures are falling into the wrong hands — or worse, everyone's hands, via the Internet — and leading to criminal charges.

Similar cases have been reported in New Jersey, New York, Alabama, Utah, Pennsylvania, Texas and Connecticut

"It used to be that kids would make mistakes, and it was local and singular and everyone knew it was part of growing up," said Catherine Davis, a PTA co-president in Westport, Connecticut, who had a frank talk with her two sons after several students' nude self-portraits recently spread through the wealthy New York City bedroom community.

"Now a stupid adolescent mistake can take on major implications and go on their record for the rest of their lives," she added.

School administrators in Santa Fe, Texas, confiscated dozens of cell phones from students in May after nude photos of two junior high girls began circulating. The girls had sent the photos to their boyfriends, who forwarded them to others, officials said.

In La Crosse, Wisconsin, a 17-year-old boy recently was charged with child pornography, sexual exploitation of a child and defamation for allegedly posting nude photos of his 16-year-old ex-girlfriend on his MySpace page. Brianna Moran, 15, who attends the same school as the girl in the La Crosse case, said she is not surprised by such behavior. "They probably think they're hot or something. If you look at people's MySpace, all the pictures are slutty," she said.

Some boys are photographing themselves, too. In Utah, a 16-year-old boy was charged with a felony for sending nude photos of himself over a cell phone to several girls. Four middle school students — two boys and two girls

C'mon kids....don't be stupid!!! Think about what you are doing...once you post these things you can never take them back!!! I know none of you kids from church are doing this...right? Parents, it's time to check cell phones and computers!

Masters Of The Universe

If you grew up in the 80's then you remember He-Man and the Masters Of The Universe. It was a very popular cartoon on TV...very well done with good storylines. It was even made into a somewhat sucky live movie in the late 80's which did not do very well...I mean...the sword looked nothing like the cartoon...there was no cross chestplate, and there was no Prince Adam or even a Battle Cat! Just look at this awful pic from the movie:

Now they are doing a re-make...whoo-hoo! I just looked at the storyline which someone posted on a website and if the script is real it looks really good. The story will explain the origin of the power sword, Castle Grayskull and Skeletor. It will also have Adam changing into He-man, and battle cat is in it(yay!!). They say that He-man himself will look like the cartoon, complete with the chest cross (see below).
