Camp report...

I am back from the camp overnighter at Camp Menno Haven, and what an experience that was! Camp is located in the tiny town of Tiskilwa (http://www.tiskilwa.net/), Illinois. This is a farming community of only 800 inhabitants. I love that place, big houses, wide open spaces, endless fields of corn and other grains.

On the way there we stopped at the Cracker Barrel restaurant for some breakfast as is our custom (I had the hotcakes in blackberry syrup and whipped cream....it was a huuuge platter). After arriving at camp we had some free time so some of the guys went out to fish, some went to the gym. Me, I was running back and forth taking pics as usual, trying to cover everything.

The services were awesome and the talks were exceptional as always. These events really help the men bond more because that is something we men do not do with other men like women do with each other. We really opened up and the atmosphere was conducive to letting the Holy Spirit work in us.

I have to say the food was so good at camp. We enjoyed things like eggs & sausage, a variety of cereals, meatloaf, fried chicken, salad, a variety of juices, and this year the chocolate milk was a huge hit.

I had the chance to shoot for the church site as well as my own. Check out some of the pics I shot.

The Jonas Brothers

I'm not a huge fan of these guys like my nieces are, but I saw this video on the Disney Channel the other day and loved the song. It's very catchy.

Church Mice

I found this really cool christian comic site today and thought I would share some of their comics with you. So, here ya go...click on the strips to make them bigger and easier to read.

The Word is Alive

The Bible was inscribed over a period of two thousand years in times of war and in days of peace...by Kings, Physicians, Tax Collectors, Farmers, Fishermen, Singers and Shepherds. The marvel is that a library so perfectly cohesive could have been produced by such a diverse crowd over a period of time which staggers the imagination. Jesus is its grand subject, our good it's design, and the Glory of God is its end.

Charlton Hesston dies...

Born John Charleton Carter in 1924 in the Chicago suburb of Evanston IL, the actor stayed close to home to study drama at Northwestern University where he played the lead in the school production of Peer Gynt and also met his wife Lydia Clarke.

In 1956 DeMille cast him in the part of Moses in 'The Ten Commandments' -- a role that would make him a worldwide star. In 1959 Heston played the title role in the epic to end all epics, 'Ben Hur.'

When not acting, Heston spent his time as the president of the Screen Actors Guild, serving for 6 terms. He also acted as president of the National Rifle Association, ending his five-year run in 2003.

I am also putting the address to the links section to the left of this blog. I will be updating it and adding more pics as I go along, so please check it out and let me know how you like it so far!

Pink eye again!

Yep...I've got it again, this time in my right eye. I think several people in church have it too. I am taking drops for it but even so I sit here with my house completely dark and my computer's brightness down low. I hope it goes away soon...
